Chronic inflammation of prostate, which was described for the first time more than 100 years ago, is still a very common disease, which is not studied sufficiently and could be hardly treated.
According to the existing estimations, chronic prostatitis is observed for 10 to 15 per cent of practically healthy men and for about 30 per cent of urological patients. At the same time, chronic prostatitis occurs primarily in the case of men of young and middle age and is often aggravated with impotence and infertility.
At the present time, chronic non-specific prostatitis is considered as an inflammatory disease of infectious genesis with possible addition of autoimmune disorders characterised by damage to both parenchymatous and interstitial tissues of prostate.
At the present time, chronic non-specific prostatitis is considered as an inflammatory disease of infectious genesis with possible addition of autoimmune disorders characterised by damage to both parenchymatous and interstitial tissues of prostate.
Obviously, the attempts to solve the problem of prostatitis only by application of new antibacterial preparations give no desirable results. It is necessary to forecast the effect to all the links of pathogenesis of this disease.
Another problem, which is not less difficult, is treatment of so-called prostatedynia or neurovegetative prostatepathy, which means the disease of prostate caused by disorder of its innervation and haemodynamics with similar symptoms as those for chronic prostatitis in the absence of inflammatory symptoms.
Taking into consideration the specific features of pathogenesis of chronic prostatitis and prostatedynia, there is obvious expedience for application of various kind of electrical stimulation to complex therapy of these diseases. The efficiency of these methods has been confirmed by many authors 2. It is obvious that electrical pulse effect can normalise microcirculation, improve drainage of acini in prostate, promote to normalising of prostate tone and vegetative innervation.
Among the methods of electrical stimulation applied to chronic prostatitis, there is the advantageous method, which includes the Electronic Normaliser designed and produced by ECOMED Research and Production Association 1.
The wide cycle of clinical tests carried out in various medical institutions showed the complex effect to each of the aforementioned factors. The designers of this instrument managed to provide the following features:
The essential influence to the efficiency of result is also accounted for by the ability of the Electronic Normaliser to provide detoxification of organism (protocol dated December 30, 1992 by Samara Medical University at the Russian Federal Ministry of Public Health); to normalise gastric acidity (protocol dated June 24, 1995 and opinion dated June 23, 1995 by the Russian State Medical University at the Russian Federal Ministry of Public Health); to improve the adapting capacities of organism to outer pathogenic chemical biological and stress factors (protocol dated September 23, 1997 by the State Research Centre of Preventive Medicine at the Russian Federal Ministry of Public Health; protocol dated June 01, 1995 by N. I. Blokhin Oncological Research Centre at the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences; protocol dated December 22, 1994 by the Research Institute of Diagnostics and Hygiene at the Russian Federal Ministry of Public Health; opinion 12-95/3 dated March 21, 1995).
In the case of chronic prostatitis, this method is recommended for application to the finishing stages of treatment, when the microbial agent is removed and the process passes to the phase of remission. In this period, the administration of the Electronic Normaliser capsule has the objective of regeneration and activation of the functional condition of prostate and related organs. This method can be combined well with prescription of pharmaceutical preparations; therefore, it is permissible to use non-steroid antiphlogistics, biogenic stimulators, adaptogens, vegetotropic drugs, vitamins (protocol dated June 01, 1995 by the Research Institute of Diagnostics and Hygiene at the Russian Federal Ministry of Public Health).
In the cases of prostatedynia, the treatment with the Electronic Normaliser capsule can be started immediately after determination of the diagnosis.
For the purpose of therapy of chronic prostatitis and prostatedynia, two administration methods of the Electronic Normaliser capsule are applied:
It is also possible to use the combined method. Upon peroral application, the capsule is evacuated naturally in one to five days (maybe up to eleven days) after swallowing. If the rectal method is used, the capsule is introduced by the patient after defecation behind the sphincter of rectum. In this case, the capsule is evacuated by muscular tension or upon the following defecation. The course of treatment consists normally of double peroral administration with the interval of two weeks. In the rectal method, the capsule is introduced two to four times in eight to ten hours before the expected time of defecation with the interval of one week.
The positive results of electrical stimulation and, in particular, the complex effects of the Electronic Normaliser to chronic prostatitis are obvious. They are determined by the pathogenetic mechanisms of this disease and by the features of the procedure.
The advantages of this method as compared to other methods of electrical stimulation include the following factors:
For application of the Electronic Normaliser, it is necessary to take into consideration that this device is not a pharmacological preparation or remedy of physical therapy, and its clinically proven ability to affect the organism is accounted for by application of the technology of information error correction. |
Because application of the Electronic Normaliser is permitted without prescription, the restrictions include only acute prostatitis, non-malignant hyperplasia of prostate, and cancer of prostate.
Taking into consideration the aforementioned facts, this method can be recommended for application to wide urological and andrological practice.
